FAQ
A 3D pen is a handheld device that extrudes heated plastic, allowing you to draw in three dimensions. It can be used to create raised graphics on flat surfaces or to “draw” structures in mid-air that you can hold in your hands. No software or computer is needed—just your imagination!
To draw in mid-air, select your filament type (PLA or ABS) and adjust the pen’s temperature to a slightly lower setting. Use the slower speed setting to allow the plastic time to harden—around 4-6 seconds for PLA and 3 seconds for ABS. Gently move the pen upwards, hold it steady to let the plastic harden, and then continue shaping your creation.
To switch between ABS and PLA, use the temperature adjuster to select the appropriate mode for your filament. ABS works best between 210–230°C, while PLA functions within 160–210°C. Ensure the selected mode matches your filament type to avoid damaging your pen or affecting performance.
Figo3D supports PLA and ABS filaments. The pen is optimised for PLA, which is included in your kit. Always ensure the mode matches the filament type for the best results.
The pen can work with a power bank with at least a 2-amp output. However, most laptops and standard USB ports do not supply enough power for the pen to function. We recommend connecting the pen to a wall socket using a USB cable and a standard AC adapter (not included).
Slight oozing is normal, similar to how glue guns behave. If this occurs with PLA, you can lower the temperature slightly to minimise the effect.
When changing filament, use the reverse button to fully remove the strand. Trim the end of the filament before reinserting it to ensure smooth loading. Avoid leaving partially withdrawn filament in the pen, as it may swell and cause jams.

At Figo3D, we’re committed to crafting innovative tools while keeping sustainability at the forefront. As part of our ongoing efforts to reduce waste and minimize our environmental impact, we’ve decided to no longer include power adapters in our 3D pen packaging.
Here’s why:
Reducing E-Waste
Many of us already have compatible power adapters from other devices at home, and including one in every box often leads to unnecessary duplicates that end up discarded.
By skipping the adapter, we help reduce the global e-waste burden.
Smaller Packaging, Less Impact
Without the adapter, our packaging is more compact. This means fewer materials are used, and we can ship more products in fewer shipments, significantly cutting down on our carbon footprint.
A Greener Future Together
This change is one small step toward a more sustainable future. By using adapters you already have, you’re joining us in making thoughtful choices that benefit the planet.
The USB cord for the Figo3D pen can be used with a USB AC power adapter that runs 5V and 2A. You may already have a compatible adapter from other devices
For customers who need a power adapter, we’re happy to offer recommendations or provide an option to purchase one separately. Thank you for supporting our mission to innovate responsibly and protect the environment!
